Dr. Matin, a distinguished graduate of the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), obtained his DDS degree with honors. He further pursued advance training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the esteemed University of Washington, renowned for its exceptional medical facilities and prestigious training programs.
During his comprehensive clinical training, Dr. Matin acquired expertise in a wide range of areas including oral and maxillofacial pathology and reconstruction, facial trauma, corrective jaw surgery, bone grafting, oral surgery, preprosthetic surgery, dental implantology, as well as office-based anesthesia/sedation.

Our History
For nearly 50 years, West Coast Oral Surgery has served Scripps Ranch, Mira Mesa, Poway, and the surrounding San Diego communities. Founded by Dr. Albert Curt and later led by Dr. Andrew Chang, our practice continues under Dr. Mehdi Matin with a commitment to compassionate care, surgical excellence, and personalized treatment.
Dr. Matin is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon who earned his dental degree with honors from the University of California, San Francisco, completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of Washington, and completed an additional fellowship in anesthesiology at Indiana University. His comprehensive training supports a broad range of care, including wisdom teeth removal, dental implants, bone grafting, corrective jaw surgery, and office-based anesthesia.
Today, our practice combines decades of experience with advanced imaging and guided implant technology to develop treatment plans tailored to each patient. We value the trust of our patients and referring dentists and take time to explain treatment options, answer questions, and support patients throughout their surgical care.

At West Coast Oral Surgery, we are well-staffed and equipped to safely meet the needs of our patients. We will be adjusting our surgery and consultation schedule based on age and overall health of the patient. We follow social distancing recommendations and require patients, and anyone accompanying them, to wait outdoors or in your car if a room is not readily available.
