Our office is convienently located in Scripps Ranch in the North County Medical Dental Building. This location offers easy access, ample parking and privacy. From the I-15 take the Mira Mesa Blv. exit and go east. Go one block and turn left at Scripps Ranch Blv. Go one block and turn left on Erma Road. Front Office and Administration

Our friendly front office staff is prepared to handle your every need from scheduling to answering questions about your insurance benefits, we take all indemnity and most PPO plans, we offer CareCredit financing and self-payment discounts. Due to the technical aspects of dental and medical treatment, figuring out your insurance benefits can be a daunting process. However, our office is prepared to explain your insurance benefits and to process and submit your insurance claims.

Your portion of the payment is required upon delivery of service. However, due to the complexity of insurance coverage and the technical aspects of diagnosis and surgical treatment, our office will assist you in every way to maximize your insurance benefits .

An examination/consultation fee of $98.00 will be charged for all new patients or for new procedures on existing patients (fees subject to change). A higher examination/consultation fee may be charged for complex medically related conditions which includes but is not limited to pathology and TMJ disorders.

About the Doctors

Dr. Marc Dentico-Olin

Dr. Marc Dentico-Olin is a graduate of Cornell University in Ithaca, NY where he rowed on the heavyweight crew team and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Music with a minor in saxophone performance. After a few years in the music business, he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Dentico-Olin also attended Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City where he earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD). He is now living in San Diego, where he enjoys exploring the Pacific coast with his wife, Deborah, and young son, Marc Charlie.

Dr. Dentico-Olin completed a six-year specialty training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery as well as an internship in General Surgery at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.
Dr. Dentico-Olin practices the full traditional scope of the specialty at Scripps and Sharp hospitals and the San Diego Center for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery including: Dental Implant Surgery and Bone Grafting, Wisdom Tooth Surgery, Corrective Jaw (Orthognathic) Surgery, Reconstruction and Repair of Facial Bone Fractures, Repair of Facial Lacerations, TMJ Disorders, and Treatment of benign cysts and tumors of the mouth and facial bones.
Dr. Dentico-Olin understands the importance of patient education and ensures that every patient feels secure and confident during each and every step of treatment. He also understands the importance of community service and is committed to surgical missions abroad as well as other community-based activities.

Dr. Stone Thayer

Dr. Stone Thayer completed his undergraduate studies in Finance and Management at Washington University’s John M. Olin School of Business. After a brief stint as a financial analyst in New York, Dr. Thayer attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and graduated with honors in 2001. He then went on to serve with the United States Naval Forces as part of the Navy and Marine Corps amphibious platform. His tour of duty was highlighted by many deployments in the Western Pacific and coordination of Medical/Dental humanitarian missions. During his tour of duty he earned the prestigious Navy & Marine Corps Achievement and Commendation Medals.

Dr. Thayer completed his active duty obligations in 2004 and then began his surgical training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern/Parkland Hospital in Dallas. During his training he also acquired his Medical degree and completed a General Surgery Internship at the University of Texas. His broad training included facial trauma, correction of jaw and facial deformities, facial cosmetics, temporomandibular joint disorders, maxillofacial pathology, implantology and soft tissue reconstructive surgery. He completed his residency in 2010 and then completed fellowship in Craniofacial and Reconstructive surgery at the Charleston Area Medical Center in West Virginia.
He is trained in treating pediatric craniofacial defects, pathology and reconstructive procedures. Subsequently, from August 2012 to August 2014 Dr. Thayer served as faculty at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He was involved in resident and student education, and also a central part of the University’s Cleft and Craniofacial Team. Additionally, he also engaged in a Reconstructive and Cosmetic surgery preceptorship with Dr. Jaime Flores, a Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon, form September 2013 to September 2014. He received training in local, regional and microvascular reconstruction of various primary and secondary anatomical defects. His areas of research interest and surgical skills include correction of jaw and facial deformities, trauma, and reconstruction of craniofacial defects. Dr. Thayer is currently the Chief Maxillofacial Surgeon at Sharp Memorial as well as attending to trauma cases at the local Scripps Hospital network.

Dr. Mehdi Matin

Dr. Matin received his DDS degree with honors from the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and his specialty certificate in oral and maxillofacial surgery at University of Washington, one of the top medical centers and most prestigious programs in the country. His 4-year clinical training encompasses oral and maxillofacial pathology and reconstruction, facial trauma, corrective jaw surgery, bone grafting, oral surgery, preprosthetic surgery, dental implantology, and office based anesthesia/sedation.

In addition to regular training, he completed an Anesthesiology Fellowship at Indiana University, School of Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology which gave him an opportunity to develop superior background in the field of anesthesia and achieve clinical skills and knowledge for providing general anesthesia and sedation for patients of all ages to assure a safe and comfortable anesthesia experience for all his patients.

Along with his strong clinical and surgical skills and work ethic, he is fully committed to providing the highest quality care, and to continually improve the quality of life of his patients.

Dr. Matin is an affiliated attending surgeon at Harborview medical center and the University of Washington School of Dentistry, where he was involved as an instructor and mentor for residents and dental students during their training.

Dr. Matin is a Diplomate of American Board of OMS, member of American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons (AAOMS), American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ACOMS). He has published several articles and has given presentations at state and national meetings.

Dr. Andrew K. Chang

Dr. Chang graduated #1 in his class at the University of Southern California School of Dentistry with highest honors in academics and leadership. He received his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine where he went on to complete his internship in General Surgery and residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Out of over 220 applicants only 3 doctors, including Dr. Chang, were selected for entry into L.S.U.'s prestigious Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program in 1991. During his residency, Dr. Chang received extensive training in the field of reconstructive and cosmetic facial surgery.

Dr. Chang is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is currently licensed by the California Board of Dental Examiners and the Medical Board of California. Click here to view Dr. Chang's awards and certificates.

Dr. Joel Berger

Dr. Berger was born in Montreal, Canada, where he earned both his bachelor and dental degrees from McGill University. After earning his dental degree, he spent an additional year in advanced dental training at the McGill Graduate School of Dentistry. He subsequently earned his medical degree at the University of Washington. After completing his degree, he entered the oral and maxillofacial surgery training program at the University of Washington, where he completed general surgery and oral and maxillofacial training. He spent one year in Europe doing a fellowship at two major centers, one in Holland and one in Austria. He then returned to McGill University for an additional year of advanced training prior to coming to San Diego.
Dr. Berger has lectured extensively in the United States and Canada on temporomandibular joint disorders, dental implantology and the surgical treatment of sleep disorders. He is past Chief of Maxillofacial Surgery at Children’s Hospital and Sharp Memorial Hospital and serves on the Orthodontic Advisory Committee for California Children’s Services. He is a faculty member of University of California, San Diego, Division of Plastic Surgery, and Secretary of the California Coalition of Cleft and Craniofacial Center.

Surgical Staff

Members of our surgical staff are highly trained professionals certified by the Southern California Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and are proficient in office based and hospital based surgical assisting. All members of the surgical staff are instructed, on an annual basis, in Advanced Cardiac Life Support according to American Heart Association guidelines.

bertell

Mr. Bertell came in to see Dr. Chang for treatment, but he had no idea that he would be seeing his former 6th grade student. Mr. Bertell was Dr. Chang's 6th grade teacher at June Street Elementary School in Los Angeles. Although retired from teaching, Mr. Bertell still took his pen out and graded Dr. Chang's performance.
